Zero Waste All-Ukrainian Festival

On October 5, 2019 the Zero Waste Fest All-Ukrainian Zero Waste Festival took place. Almost all teachers of the quality management department joined this event, receiving much needed information for daily life, educational process and research.

There were five directions for the festival: Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Rot (composted).

During the day, five events were held at the festival:

  • lectures and workshops from lecturers from all over Ukraine;
  • the mimicker performance of on how to sort properly, etc.;
  • eco-play from theater “The7even”;
  • photographic zones and creative installations;
  • food-cort and fair of Ukrainian eco goods.

In recent decades, the composition of household waste has changed significantly: it used to be mostly organic residues, but today it is synthetic products, batteries, and other toxic and hazardous emissions. In addition, it has grown: one person a year throws up to 400 kilograms of garbage (more than 20 million cubic meters in our country alone). For these reasons, it is necessary to learn to care for the environment as soon as possible, reusing and rationally recycling everything possible.

Activities such as the Zero Waste Festival help to realize the critical importance of a responsible attitude to natural resources. For example, understand the appropriateness and importance of sorting and recycling. The environmental crisis in Ukraine requires rapid and systematic action by each of us.

At the department, we plan to develop methodological recommendations for garbage sorting, economical use of household resources and energy, etc. By the way, we are also developing a program for implementing an environmental management system at our University. After approval by the management, we will begin the implementation of this important project.
