World Metrology Day is an international professional holiday of metrologists, which is celebrated on May 20th. On this day in 1875, representatives of seventeen countries signed the Metric Convention, which defines the basis for global cooperation in metrology and in its industrial, commercial and social applications. The initial purpose of the Metric Convention – ensuring the uniformity of measurements throughout the world – is still important today.
