Nowruz

On March 21, Muslims celebrate the spring holiday Navruz – “Persian New Year”, one of the oldest holidays in the history of mankind. In the translation from Farsi Navruz means “a new day” – the coming of the New Year according to the solar calendar, which coincides with the vernal equinox.

It is believed that Navruz is rooted in Zoroastrianism. Historians define its age more than 3000 years, and the birthplace of this holiday is Khorasan (the historical region of Central Asia).

In 2009 Navruz was included by UNESCO in the list of the intangible cultural heritage of mankind. And in 2010 the UN General Assembly declared March 21 the International day of Navruz and called upon all countries to make efforts to popularize this ancient holiday in the world. The celebration of Navruz is spread in the Muslim nations, at the same time it is not a religious Islamic holiday, but rather a national one.

NowruzThe staff of the department congratulated our undergraduate Akramjon Hassonov, who studies on the educational program “Quality, standardization and certification.” The greeting was accompanied by a delicious pilaf treat, for which the chair expresses its special gratitude!
